Making Math Relevant – Science Alberta Foundation’s mission is: “to create and inspire innovative programs that will encourage Albertans to discover and share the excitement and relevance of science, technology and mathematics.”
In keeping with this mission statement, the Science Alberta Foundation’s “classroom crates” were developed to provide ready-made, theme-based curriculum resources for schools, libraries and other traditional and non-traditional education venues across the province. The crates are designed to be fun, use an interactive approach to learning, and provide the crate hosts with the opportunity to become effective science, technology and mathematics educators. Each crate developed is differentiated to provide age/grade appropriate instruction for students. The crate themes and activities are offered in support of the Province of Alberta, Canada is science, technology and mathematics education objectives.
Science Alberta, in partnership with The Actuarial Foundation, developed an innovative crate on mathematics titled Making Math Relevant. The crate includes materials for hands-on, interactive problem solving operations, and supplemental materials including books, videotapes, and computer games. |
