The Discovery Summerbridge Academy has been created by the Taos Municipal School District to provide remediation support to elementary and middle school at-risk students in math, literacy and science during the summer. Along with local actuarial mentors, high school Advanced Placement students are teacher assistants under the direction of certified district teachers. This program is an extension of the school district’s existing extended school day Discovery Program for160 3rd through 8th grade students. Focus is on improving math and literacy performance and student behavior through extended time on task. Progress is measured by applying the nationally accepted ACHIEVE test to students at the beginning and end of the Summerbridge term.
