Mu ALpha Theta Project Math Minds™The Actuarial Foundation has joined with Mu Alpha Theta, the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society, to implement Project Math Minds™, a new actuarial-related project that will be designed for high school students to work on during the school year. Students will compete for college scholarship money provided by The Actuarial Foundation. Winners will present at the Mu Alpha Theta National Convention to other members of the Honor Society. 2010-2011 WinnersThe Actuarial Foundation is pleased to announce the winners of the 2010-2011 Project Math Minds competition. Pushkar Aggarwal, a freshman at Poolesville High School, Poolesville, MD, received a $5,000 award, the highest possible award amount. Alex Sher, who received a $4,000 award, in fall will enter his freshman year at Johns Hopkins University. 2009-2010 Winners!The Actuarial Foundation is pleased to announce that Alexander Houck of Farragut High School in Knoxville, TN received a $5000 Project Math Minds™ scholarship for his National Catastrophe Fund project and Minah Yang of Seoul International School in South Korea received a $2,500 scholarship for her National Catastrophe Fund project. Minah will talk about her project at The Actuarial Foundation's Speaker Session at the Mu Alpha Theta Convention in Washington D.C.this summer. Congratulations to both students for taking on this challenging project! 2007-2008 WinnerThe Actuarial Foundation is pleased to announce that Bryan Taylor McMeen of Virgil I. Grissom High School in Huntsville, Alabama received a $5000 Project Math Minds™ scholarship for his project, A Statistical Analysis Regarding the Projected Growth of Worker’s Compensation Insurance.
