North Atlanta High School
The Actuarial Foundation’s Advancing Student Achievement (ASA) mentoring program continues at North Atlanta High School.
Mentoring opportunities will allow you to:
Work with students: These mathematically gifted students are not offered many opportunities to explore non-routine problems and conduct mathematical research. These highly motivated and talented students need more opportunities to experience higher-level mathematics with mentors who have a genuine interest in math.
Participate in innovation: Prepare students to compete in a traveling mathematics team that will compete in regional mathematics competitions. Help these students learn how to use high-level mathematics in different problem settings. Or, work with students on developing long-term mathematical research over the course of the year. Mentors will help students identify a meaningful research topic, determine appropriate strategies for gathering data, determine appropriate strategies for analyzing data, and determine if their research has significant results.
Work in a fun environment: Actuaries are needed to meet with students on Thursdays between 3:30-5:00pm during the months of September through February. Come once a month for an hour or once a week for two…whatever time you can donate will help!
